Eco-beer is brewed from the water that goes down your sink“When you think beyond the sink, the world can drink and drink and drink.” That’s exactly what one American brewery encourages people to do - and for sound environmental reasons. With the help of a clean-tech start-up, Devil’s Canyon Brewery has created a beer made using water from the showers, laundry and bathroom sinks of a San Francisco apartment block. The wastewater that goes down your drain, from everywhere except your toilet, is called grey water. It contains a variety of dirt and chemicals but hasn’t come into contact with faeces. It might not sound appealing, but grey water can be processed back into drinking water. Aaron’s company builds and installs on-site water processing units which have been proven to reduce water demands (and therefore bills) by up to 95 per cent. It takes around seven gallons of water to produce just one gallon of beer. In a future where water is scarce, beer could be too.For the ‘Epic OneWater Brew’ project Epic Cleantec and Devil’s Canyon Brewery installed a water treatment unit in the basem*nt of a 40-storey San Francisco apartment building. They are collecting in this building about 7,500 gallons per day of grey water that we are treating, putting through an advanced treatment process and then turning into clean treated water. The concept of eco-beer brewed from recycled grey water reflects innovative thinking in sustainable water management. By leveraging technology and public engagement, such initiatives contribute to addressing global water challenges and promoting responsible consumption practices.# Epic Cleantec # Canyon Brewery # Eco-beer # Grey water

Stantec will be presenting this tasty, women-made cider tonight at the 2024 WRISE & Wine Tasting and Fundraiser! Hope to see you there.Name: Eris Pedestrian CiderOrigin: Old Irving Park, Chicago, ILCo-Owners: Michelle Foik and Katy PizzaFun local fact: First women-owned brewery in IllinoisAlcohol Content: 5.6%Sustainability Practices:A former Masonic Temple was transformed into Eris Brewery and Ciderhouse, earning the owners a local preservation award.• Reclaimed radiators were repurposed as railings, church stove grates became lighting over the new kitchen.• Utilizes a unique geothermal heating and cooling system that integrates the building with the brewing process equipment to capture and reuse waste energy for heat and hot water. This system results in an estimated 49% annual carbon footprint reduction.• ComEd energy efficiency grant helped implement efficiency strategies exceeding code requirements, including a super insulated building envelop with extremely efficient windows. These measures alone result in an estimated 21% annual electricity savings and a 16% annual natural gas savings.Tasting notes: Semi-dry cider with a green gold hue. Apple-forward with wine-like aromas. Crisp with flavors of ripe apple with a slight, dry finish. For the tenth year, our event will feature sustainably produced wines — and one beer, cider and non-alcoholic beverage — all made with renewable energy by woman winemakers, brewers and vineyard owners. Paired with the beverages will be small bites and unbeatable networking, all for a good cause!Proceeds from this event will benefit the programs of Women in Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE), including funding of fellowships awarded to women preparing for a career in wind or solar energy, and local WRISE Chicago programming.#WRISEWine #WRISEandWine #winetasting #WRISEChicago #womeninenergy #womeninrenewableenergy #womenintech #womeninengineering #womeninleadership #womeninstem #womenofsolar #womenofwind #solarenergy #windenergy #solarpower #windpower #empoweredwomen #empoweringwomen #sustainability

Earth Day is one week away! 🌎 We want to highlight some Ekos users going above and beyond in their brewery's sustainability efforts. First on the list is Denver Beer Co.!"At Denver Beer Co we believe in the importance of environmental stewardship. We have one planet and we believe it is our corporate and social responsibility to help conserve and protect our resources. As part of our commitment to Colorado, we implement sustainability measures to ensure a greener future for our communities and our state. Our Canworks production facility is run on 100% solar power and each can and keg is produced with 100% clean energy. Our roof contains a 258 kW solar array which powers our entire production facility with clean energy captured during our 300 days of Colorado sunshine. Our sales team cruises around town in EVs that are powered by the solar panels on the Canworks' roof. Each member of the sales team is estimated to drive 11,500 miles per year and are proud to do so in our fleet of EVs.Denver Beer Co was also one of the first small-scale brewers to implement Earthly Lab’s innovative carbon dioxide capture technology which captures and stores excess carbon dioxide produced during the beer fermentation process for reuse. Each year Denver Beer Co will capture over 100,000 lbs of carbon dioxide with this technology to be recycled and reused by other industries, ensuring it is not emitted into the environment. Finally, DBC is a proud recipient of The Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) Award. ELP is a statewide program that recognizes and awards organizations in Colorado that go beyond compliance with environmental regulations by advancing sustainability in Colorado. The goal is to support organizations in Colorado in increasing the efficiency and sustainability of their operations."You can find out more about Denver Beer Co.'s sustainability initiatives by visiting https://hubs.ly/Q02sSv360#goekos #denverbeerco #brewerysustainabilityefforts #earthmonth #sustainabilityawareness #deneverbrewery #customershpotlight
